Proofreading Support of Research Papers and Other Documents Written in Foreign Language

    To promote opportunities to make research presentations using foreign language for graduate students, the Office for the Promotion of Graduate Research and Education, Graduate School of Human Sciences, is planning to financially support the cost of proofreading research papers and other necessary items written in a foreign language.

1. Materials

The following materials that need proofreading:
  1. Papers written in a foreign language (excluding Japanese)
  2. Presentation manuscripts for an international conference (excluding an abstract)
    ※ English to Japanese translation and translation into other languages are not included.

2. Application requirements

All applicants must meet the following requirements:
  • A current student, research student, or visiting researcher at the Graduate School of Human Sciences.
    Students who are (will be) on leave are not eligible. JSPS Research Fellows (DC1&DC2) can apply on condition that the research theme not be the same.
  • The applicant must be a first author.
  • Principally, you are able to receive the aid only once per semester.

3. How to apply

Application form (Download from the bottom of this page)
Signature of the supervisor is not required for application.
Application form must be sent to your supervisor and Dr.Yoneda by E-mail.

【Application deadline】
Applications can be submitted at any time before the deadline.
Final deadline is on Friday, January 24, 2025, at 15:00.

Application acceptance will be closed once the number reaches the maximum capacity.
Use one application per one manuscript.

4. Selection and result notice

The application selection will be made by the Office. Applicants will be informed of the result via the e-mail address written on the application form within two weeks after its submission.
Students who received proofreading support are required to inform the Office if their papers are published or presentations are adopted.

5. Process after result

  1. Submission of the manuscript
    Students who were accepted need to submit the “Request Form for Proofreading of Research Papers and Other Documents Written in Foreign Language” to the Office (Room N306) and send the manuscript via e-mail.
    The final deadline is on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at 15:00.
  2. Contract and Order
    The Office will select a contractor of proofreading based on students’ requests, prices, delivery dates, and other related information. The students are not allowed to make their own arrangements, including contacting and orders and payments.
  3. Delivery of Product and Payment
    After checking the delivered proofread product by the student, the Office will settle an invoice.
