Sociology of Culture

Observing humans through communication

The Sociology of Culture group studies various cultural phenomena, communication, and social relations from a sociological point of view. We engage in a broad range of research topics including subcultures such as popular music and advertisements, science and technology, medicine, homes, workplaces, gender, sexuality, etc. Our research approach incorporates diverse theories and methods including media theories, feminism, social history, international relations, and etc. Such cross-disciplinarity characterizes this group.
