Observing humans through philosophy

The Contemporary Thought group engage in scientific methods and efforts to untangle the question “What is human?” Our research engages in diverse topics including questions of norms, otherness (autism), body (pregnancy), language and art, etc. In addition, we also examine social changes in response to exposure to another civilization. We particularly focus on Japan and study it by examining the rational/irrational characteristics of Western culture and Japanese civilization.
