2025年度OOS協定を締結したインドネシア気象庁とIMAPCTオープンプロジェクトTSUNAMI DRR ラボは、2月東日本大震災15周年に因んだ津波記念碑写真コンテストの応募を開始し36名の応募がありました（Flyer）。日本とインドネシアで同時に追悼するため、2026年3月11日上位3名へ受賞式をインドネシア気象庁アチェベサール支部にて開催しました。
受賞は一位Mudassir氏、二位Abrar Mus'ad Yussa氏、三位Bintang Haris Boenian氏です。一位Mudassir氏は、小学校SDN６の教員です(受賞写真１)。受賞した写真(写真2)は、20年を過ぎ日ごろは忘れられる狭い空間に建っている2004年スマトラ津波の記念碑について、小学校の子どもたちが先生から教わっている現在の様子を映し撮られたものです。85基のうち77基に減った災害伝承碑が今後も2004年スマトラ津波と2011年東日本大震災を経験した両国の災害伝承が、次の世代へつながる希望が撮られています。
本写真コンテストは、シャクアラ大学と大阪大学の学部生が主体的に運営しました。インドネシアから2月6日OOSシンポジウムのために来日した気象庁若手職員の二人が、今回の写真コンテストをリーダーとなりました。日本とインドネシアの両国の津波を経験していない若者の力で、これから災害伝承をつないで行くことが期待されます。

The Indonesian Agency for Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics (BMKG) and the IMAPCT Open Project TSUNAMI DRR Lab opened the tsunami memorial photo contest in February to commemorate the 15th anniversary of the Great East Japan Earthquake.36 entries were received (Flyer). BMKG concluded an OOS agreement for fiscal year 2025. To commemorate the event simultaneously in Japan and Indonesia, an awards ceremony for the top three winners was held at the Indonesian Meteorological Agency's Aceh Besar Branch on March 11, 2026.
The winners were Mr. Mudassir(1st place), Mr. Mus'ad Yussa (2nd place), and Bintang Haris Boenian (3rd place). Mr. Mudassir is a teacher at Primary School SDN6 (Photo 1). The winning photo shows elementary school children learning about the 2004 Sumatra tsunami memorial statue, which stands in a narrow space that is usually forgotten after more than 20 years. This photo gives hope that the disaster monuments, now the 77th of 85, will continue to transfer disaster memories to future generations in both countries, which experienced the 2004 Sumatra tsunami and the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake and Tsunami. The original monument stands near Osaka bay.
This tsunami monuments photo contest was managed mainly by under graduate students at both local Syiah Kuala University and University of Osaka. Two Indonesians, a young staff from BMKG and a student, visited to participate in the OOS symposium on 6 February 2027. They took a leadership in this photo contest. It is hoped that the power of young people from both Japan and Indonesia, who have not actually experienced tsunamis, will continue to forward disaster lessons to the future.
